TURGUTREIS
The south-western tip of the bustling Bodrum peninsula is where you'll find this compact resort, and a 12-mile stretch of beaches which are mostly ideal for the whole family.
Taking its name from a famous local sea admiral, Turgutreis offers fabulous views of the Aegean Sea from its favoured position at the southern extremity of the Bodrum Peninsula. For this reason, it's a popular destination for a package holiday or all-inclusive holiday in this sun-dappled region.
With so much beach to relax and play on, it's little wonder that a Turgutreis cheap holiday or last-minute holiday is so popular with families, especially as it is flat, and the sea is blessed with long, shallow stretches and Greek island views. The views back to the citrus groves and mountains make a very restful sight, and contrast beautifully with that expanse of sand, rocks and water.
Eating out in Turgutries
Take a walk around the harbour and you might see the local fishermen landing their catches. That's a pretty good signal that the food in Turgutreis relies heavily on fish, which finds its way onto the menu of 100 or so restaurants - enough choice for several years of Turgutreis holidays! And after watching the spectacular sight of the sun sinking into the sea, a stroll into one of those restaurants surely beckons.
Try a traditional guvec (stew) if you're wanting something hearty - otherwise Turkish meze will let you taste samples of several light snacks, but can make a substantial meal in itself.
Plenty of choice, of both hotels and restaurants, and lots of bars to while away the evenings make a Turgutreis holiday an established favourite.
